Late Summer in Singapore [Part I]

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

September 2013, I was kinda sad, mini brokenhearted lol. I wanted to release this sadness while at the same time, I knew my friends was about to take vacation. So I joined them and fortunately we had same flight so we departed together.

SGD
We had evening flight from Yogyakarta and arrived in Singapore at 10pm. We were so amazed with the sophisticated look of Changi Airport so we took like 2 hours to look around. The Singapore’s International Airport is very clean, very tidy and roomy. Most of the floor is covered by carpet, thus there’re many people also took a rest there, sleeping on the floor. Yes, it is very common to see many people sleep on Changi, like we did! And the best, its free wifi is amazing, absolutely waaaay better and faster than in my hometown :D

Many travelers were also enjoying sleeping inside the airport

I searched around and found some closed restaurant. I asked my friend to move there, and arrange some chair to sleep. Guess we’re not alone, there’re some people also follow us, sleep on the chair of a restaurant. Yes, there’re also 4 guards that monitoring around, holding their gun, walking and passing us without giving any warning for us. It is ALLOWED to sleep inside Changi, and it’s quite comfort too! It’s just that at 3am, it’s freezing as…. south pole? Maybe.

Taken after i fell asleep. Still in Changi Airport. #bedface

After moving with MRT to Maxwell

The next day, at early morning we left to get to our hostel. We went to Maxwell to book a hostel but unfortunately all booked. Then we walked to Chinatown and found a hostel with available room. It cost 35 SGD while the cheap one actually only cost 19 SGD. No probs, at least we got a bathroom to take a shower!

After we cleaned up and put down our belonging, then we went to the main spot, Merlion Park by MRT. It only cost 1.5-3 SGD for each trip by MRT. Since we don’t have any Mass Rapid Transportation like this, I was personally amazed and wish someday we can have this kind of transportation, in our hometown. And well, because it was weekend so most places were quite crowded, but we still managed to take some nice pictures too in Merlion J

From Merlion Park, we went Orchard by MRT. We’re not going through the famous Orchard Road as the MRT station is right on the basement of ION Orchard, so we only walked around ION mall.
